Knowledge Vector signs contract with CACI Technology, Inc.

DURHAM, NC December 2004 – The Department of Defense's Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD) has announced that Knowledge Vector, Inc. has entered into a purchase agreement with CACI Technology, Inc. for the delivery of the Knowledge Switch™ with Sentinel Director software. Under this agreement, KVI will develop Knowledge Switch applications that will fuse multiple long-range, mid-range, and short-range sensor data as part of a "tipping and queuing" functionality that the U.S. Army will use in support of the war fighter.

Mounted within an advanced command-and-control vehicle, the Knowledge Switch will generate an “awareness zone” within each vehicle and, when networked with other similarly equipped vehicles, provide battlefield commanders with precise detail about the effects of chemical releases in a battle space. With the ability to quickly detect chemical or biological releases, the Army can assess in real-time the impact on population centers, joint force operations, and other battlefield constituents. The Knowledge Switch will use threat scenario logic ("if-then") to alert key individuals about the threat and suggested courses of action.

Knowledge Vector will supply the Knowledge Switch and associated sensor interfaces to CACI, who will provide overall software integration. STG, Inc. produces the ITV (intelligent transportation vehicle) designed for secure real-time communications and mobile data processing applications.

Terms of the program and funding were not disclosed.
